" K A R A B E L E N " is the name given to the hill on which the FETTAHOĞLU FAMILY has its olive grove for centuries. The word itself means "the dark coloured hill".
Even though the hill has a light soil, this name was given by the locals because of the dense olive trees on it.
In 1940's the trees were pruned strongly and new ones planted in addition. This was an important step for the olive culture in the area as it had a promoting effect on the locals to take better care of their trees and plant new ones. Also, many wild olive trees were grafted with the branches taken from Karabelen Grove.
The grove is naturally divided into parts along the years, but still owned by family members.
We have added 1200 young olive trees to our part in 2002, and so did the owners of the rest of the hill.
